Youthcracy 2022

This project will bring together young people from the UK, Italy, Slovakia, Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany and aims for the participants to explore democratic processes through a week-long simulation game.

The young people will create their own mini society, forming their own political parties, holding elections and passing new ‘laws’. Not only will they learn about democracy and politics but they will develop a huge range of skills (communication, decision making, empathy for others, conflict resolution, compromise, presentation skills, planning skills and so much more!). They will also have the opportunity to learn about each other’s countries and cultures with a dedicated intercultural evening to share food and entertainment from their countries with each other.

The six young people who have been selected to take part (one from North Tyneside) are all excited and despite having very little time before we go, they have been working extremely hard to come up with different ways to fundraise the £5000 the project needs. So far they have planned a community fun day in Gateshead, a bag pack and a car boot sale – but make sure to keep an eye on our social media for other things that may be coming!

If you would like to make a donation, they have set up a page here: https://gofund.me/1e0e9865

Alternatively if you have other ways in which you might be able to support our fundraising efforts please get in touch with Rebecca@youthfocusne.org.uk or Lisa@youthfocusne.org.uk – they will appreciate any help anyone can offer.
